Master Education
The master programme serves to reinforce the base of knowledge acquired during undergraduate studies and to promote an increasingly independent, individual work approach. The degree furthers the development of integrative thinking and design skills and trains students to manage larger architectural assignments. Elective and in-depth courses make it possible to shape an individual study profile. The master programme concludes with three elective subjects and the 10-week master thesis. For this thesis, students select a given topic within the fields of construction, architectural design, or urban planning. Qualified students may – in consultation with the Chair – elect to pursue a self-defined topic. In order to obtain a master’s degree, students must also provide proof of a further, minimum six-month internship.

Applications by Graduates of Other Universities
The specific regulations governing admission will depend on which university the bachelor degree or equivalent was obtained from. For further details, please consult the website of the Rector: http://www.rektorat.ethz.ch/students/admission/master/prerequisites/categories/index_EN
The master programme of architecture has an above average volume of students. However, for capacity reasons the D-ARCH is not able to accept all foreign students who meet the normal requirements for admission. In such a case, selective admission is based on the applicant profile and proven academic achievements, including the skills (level of mastery) obtained in the bachelor’s degree.
