On Architecture is a contemporary view encompassing work emerging from architectural practice today. The lecture series in the spring semester 2014 presents three specific viewpoints from the edges of Europe. The lectures will allow us to sharpen our own attitudes through this inside view of Irish, Greek, and Spanish positions addressing issues of education, materials, building, infrastructure and politics in the widest sense. The invited architects – Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara of Grafton Architects (Dublin), Maria Kaltsa of Kaltsa-Papandreou Architects (Athens), and Benedetta Tagliabue of Miralles Tagliabue EMBT (Barcelona) – provide us a window into architectural and urban theory and practice that enables us to reflect on our own stance.
Parallel to these three lectures, we have invited four D-ARCH assistant professors from the Future Cities Laboratory in Singapore and ETH Zurich to give us insights into their ongoing research and teaching along with the work of their private practice.
