City Hotel in the Seefeld District

The project site for the city hotel is near the border of the Seefeld district, on the southern slope of the steeply ascending moraine. With its orientation toward the southwest and its view of the lake, the parcel is optimal-ly situated and well-connected by bus and tram to the public transportation network.

The assignment was to design a city hotel that fulfills present and future demands on infrastructure and, not least importantly, requirements for a comfortable living atmosphere.

Yacht Club on Lake Zurich

The parcel for the yacht club is situated directly on Lake Zurich near the Tiefenbrunnen railway station. An extended quay wall separates the property from the lake promenade, marking the beginning of a stretch of lakeshore that is primarily for private use.

The assignment was to design a new, larger clubhouse, including marina facilities, for the renowned Zurich Yacht Club.

In particular, the relationship of the building’s use to its environment, i.e. the lakeshore and the water, was to be investigated. The clubhouse itself and its en-tire exterior facilities all are equally important in de-termining the space. The building and the landscape relate to each other in a reciprocal, balanced manner.
